As the fleur de lis is the most well know symbol associated with Louisiana and its' French heritage,
it became the basis of our design. We then combined the two west African countries, the Republic
Senegal and the Republic of Mali into the symbol of the African continent

placed at the bottom stem of the fleur incorporating all the elements of the
Creole Flag in the design. You will notice at the heart of the design that
we placed the "boot" of Louisiana identifying it with the state.
